The modular Career Essentials programme introduces foundational career-related skills to students and youth to help set them up for success, be it for school or work.

1. BUILDING SELF-AWARENESS

Self-awareness is a foundation you need to have to make more informed decisions about your future. By understanding your values, strengths, weaknesses, and aspirations, you gain clarity and confidence in navigating life's complexities.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Gain awareness of personal values.

  • Develop at least three potential future pathways based on these values.

2. PERSONAL STATEMENT WRITING

A personal statement is a compelling narrative that encapsulates your experiences, aspirations, and values. By investing time and effort into crafting a thoughtful narrative, you can significantly enhance your chances of success in competitive application processes.

  • Gain insight into what tertiary institutions look for in Personal Statement.

3. PORTFOLIO BUILDING

A powerful tool to distinguish you as an individual, a portfolio is more than just a collection of work samples. It's a showcase of skills, experiences, and achievements that highlight your individual unique talents and potential. Having a portfolio not only enhance your visibility and credibility as an applicant, but also increases your chances of standing out in competitive environments.

4. INTERVIEW CONFIDENCE

5. CV/RESUME WRITING

One is a detailed collation of information and experiences about yourself, whereas the other is a succinct and concise highlight of the skills and experiences that are relevant to the specific application. By knowing how to sharpen your CV into a resume, you can significantly increase your chances of securing application  success, especially for private sector jobs.
